Program of Studies

In middle school, students are introduced to engineering and computer science through hands-on, project-based learning embedded in their core academic experience. Students explore real-world challenges while developing critical success skills such as problem-solving, collaboration, persistence, and creative thinking.

Key features include:

• Digital engineering experiences focused on designing and creating real-world solutions
• Introduction to computer science and programming fundamentals
• Engineering design using tools such as Autodesk CAD software, LEGO Robotics, and 3D printers
• Learning experiences that connect classroom instruction to authentic STEM applications
• Exploration of future STEM pathways through partnerships with regional colleges and universities

High school students combine advanced coursework in mathematics and science with applied engineering experiences and industry-aligned learning opportunities. Students pursue personalized pathways aligned to their interests and postsecondary goals.

Key features include:

• Accelerated math and science sequence beginning in grade 9, continuing into advanced coursework in higher-level mathematics and science
• Engineering electives such as:
  • Wood technology (joinery and construction)
  • Aerospace engineering (rocketry, navigation systems, and drones)
  • Electronics, circuitry, and robotics using Arduino microcontrollers
  • Mechanical engineering through collaborative vehicle design
• Advanced Placement (AP) and/or ECE/Concurrent Enrollment courses in Biology, Chemistry, Physics C, Calculus AB/BC, Statistics, and Computer Science
• Opportunities to earn college credit in mathematics and science

AAE students are supported in identifying and applying to competitive undergraduate programs that align with their strengths, interests, and long-term goals.
